Crypto firm Copper hires ex-Barclays lawyer as digital assets firms face regulatory scrutiny
Crypto firm Copper has hired an ex-Barclays and ex-Linklaters lawyer as its chief legal officer.
Carly Nuzbach Lowery is joining Copper as chief legal officer with immediate effect, the firm said in a 14 March statement.
It is the latest major hire for Copper, which earlier this month appointed former Citi and Deutsche Bank managing director Sabrina Wilson as chief operating officer.
Crypto firms have looked to beef up their legal ranks recently as the nascent sector attracts increased scrutiny from regulators.

Nuzbach Lowery joins Copper from fellow crypto firm Coinbase where she was associate general counsel.
Prior to that she was senior legal counsel at Uber and was a legal counsel at Barclays Investment Bank.
She began her legal career at Magic Circle law firm Linklaters and also worked for US litigation law firm Boies Schiller Flexner.
“With experience liaising with regulators and market participants across crypto markets globally, a background in traditional finance, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and pace of disruptive innovation in highly regulated markets, Carly is a perfect fit for us,” said Copper’s chief executive Dmitry Tokarev.
