Detained Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan pleaded with a prison guard for assistance when entering a courtroom and called the ongoing legal debacle with Nigerian authorities a “show.”
A Sept. 2 video uploaded to X shows Gambaryan limping on one leg and leaning on a single crutch as he tries to make his way to the courtroom. Gambaryan reached to the arm of the guard escorting him several times for assistance walking. On each attempt, the prison official pulled his arm away.
Binance Executive Has Herniated Disk
Gambaryan has been in the custody of Nigerian authorities since February. He has a herniated disk, has suffered from bouts of pneumonia, tonsillitis and malaria.

On his way to the courtroom, the Binance executive turned to a group of onlookers and said the prison guard “was told not to help me.” Gambaryan then questioned why he couldn’t get access to a wheelchair given his herniated disk and asked the prison guard, “Why are you doing this to me?”
Lawyers Not Getting Access To Binance Exec
Gambaryan’s lawyers say that they have been unable to meet with him to prepare for the trial. His legal counsel also submitted a new bail application for him based on medical grounds and the alleged lack of access.
Prosecutors for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission rejected the application, however, and reportedly claimed that Gambaryan was not unwell and had refused prior treatment that was offered to him.
During his appearance in court yesterday, the Binance executive pleaded with the judge and said that he is not receiving the proper medical treatment at the prison. Gambaryan also brought up the issue of his legal counsel not being allowed to see him.
The judge then ordered that Gambaryan be allowed to use a wheelchair and said he will continue to hear his bail application when the trial continues tomorrow.
