Atari Combine NFTs with Loot Boxes in New ‘GFT’ Collection –

Legendary video games pioneer, Atari, are releasing giftable NFT loot boxes. Made in collaboration with metaverse innovator and NFT ecosystem Republic Realm, the NFTs in the collection, dubbed ‘GFTs’, will ‘unwrap’ themselves on a specific date, revealing their rarity to onlooking, hopeful owners.

The Atari GFT Commemorative Collection will be available from February 1 on the GFT Shoppe website . There will be 10 GFTs available in the collection, all of which are inspired by the company’s revolutionary 50 year reign as a gaming industry powerhouse. Upon their spontaneous unwrapping, each Atari GFT will reveal itself as either Common, Rare, or Epic in rarity.

Purchasers can either keep their GFT for themselves, or alternatively, and as their title suggests, they can gift the suspense-filled digital asset to a friend.

According to the roadmap, the collection’s utility extends way beyond its mere launch, as VIP holders of 4+ Atari GFTs will be granted access to exclusive announcements on GFT drops and various other token-gated experiences. In addition, there will also be on-brand games and leaderboards for GFT holders to compete in, with special rewards on offer to the top performers.

Wade Rosen, CEO of the California-based company, commented on the collection’s innovative strategy which combines the two most pioneering elements of modern gaming, NFTs and loot boxes: “What better way to commemorate Atari’s 50th anniversary than by ushering in a new era of technological innovation while also honouring the brand that launched the modern video game industry?”.
