What is Super Doginals? A Dogecoin-Based Retro Brawler
A new Dogecoin-themed game, Super Doginals, has launched as a free-to-play, browser-based retro brawler built on the Dogecoin blockchain.
Inspired by classic beat-’em-up arcade games, it lets players control unique characters in a Dogecoin universe, battling through side-scrolling levels filled with meme-based enemies.
As Dogecoin experiences renewed interest and price momentum, Super Doginals showcases an alternative use of blockchain technology beyond traditional financial applications.
What is Super Doginals?
Super Doginals is a browser-based side-scrolling brawler that draws inspiration from retro games like Streets of Rage and Fatal Fury.
Players select from a cast of three characters, including two Shiba Inu-themed avatars, as they navigate levels and take on foes modeled after popular internet meme characters. The storyline follows Kabo and other playable characters as they work to stop the villain Rugstar the Wolf from “stealing the moon.”
The game was developed by a pseudonymous creator known as Pimax. It is the latest in the series of Dogecoin blockchain-based games, featuring over 1,500 custom sprite designs, 14 levels, and 35 minutes of original music.
The game supports up to four players with local multiplayer capabilities and can be played using game controllers or touchscreens, making it accessible on multiple devices.
Blockhain Integration with Doginals Protocol
Super Doginals operates on the Doginals protocol, a Dogecoin adaptation of Bitcoin’s Ordinals protocol, which allows for permanent inscriptions of digital content on the blockchain.
This means that both the game’s artwork and code are directly inscribed on the Dogecoin blockchain. Through recursive inscription technology, developers can link multiple inscriptions, allowing for complex and adaptable applications.
The Doginals protocol enables Pimax to implement updates and patches directly on the blockchain and to permit other developers to potentially create their own variations of Super Doginals. The game is also connected to the Mini Doge art project, which explores how blockchain technology can host interactive media and digital art assets.
