Anichess launches its public alpha and partners with Yield Guild Games to enhance distribution in Southeast Asia, highlighting its innovative chess-based strategy game and expanding Web3 gaming.

Anichess, a groundbreaking chess-based strategy game, has officially launched its public alpha version in collaboration with Yield Guild Games (YGG), as announced by Animoca Brands. This partnership aims to distribute the game across Southeast Asia, a key region for Anichess in terms of player registration.

Game Features and Modes

In its alpha version, Anichess introduces a unique blend of traditional chess with innovative spell mechanics, providing players with an engaging gaming experience. The game now includes four modes: ranked match, quick match, friend match, and bot match. Players can engage in player-versus-player (PvP) matches, train against AI opponents, and unlock new spells as they progress.

Strategic Partnership with YGG

The collaboration with YGG is set to enhance Anichess’s distribution and onboarding efforts in Southeast Asia, targeting chess enthusiasts, gamers, and students. A tournament showcasing the new PvP functionalities will kick off in October, with the final event scheduled during the YGG Play Summit in November in Manila, Philippines. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to foster community engagement and to build a robust gaming ecosystem in the region.

Community and Engagement

Brian Chan, head of Anichess, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the importance of engaging Southeast Asia’s vibrant gaming and chess communities. Gabby Dizon, co-founder of Yield Guild Games, noted the Philippines’ active gaming community and expressed enthusiasm about introducing this innovative chess game to their audience.

Player Engagement and Milestones

Since January 2024, Anichess has achieved significant milestones with over one million registered wallets and a player base of 30,000 monthly active players. These users have collectively solved over 50 million puzzles, accumulating more than 14 million minutes of gameplay.
